Our Fees – Applying for a Grant of Probate.

Applying for the Grant of Probate only 

Total costs £450.00 (minimum fixed fee) to estimated  £708.00 excluding VAT. Costs inclusive of VAT will be between £540.00 and £849.60.

The exact cost will depend on the individual circumstances of the matter. For example, if there is one Executor and no property, costs will be at the lower end of the range.  There will be additional fees and expenses called disbursements set out below. 

This quote is for estates where:

• There is a valid will
• The Executor(s) register the death of the deceased and provide us with probate valuations of the assets and liabilities
• There are no disputes between Executors. If a dispute arises this is likely to lead to an increase in costs
• There is no inheritance tax payable and the Executors do not need to submit a full account to HMRC
• There are no claims made against the estate

 

Disbursements not included in this fee:

• Probate application fee of £273.00

Disbursements are costs related to your matter that are payable to third parties, such as court fees. We handle the payment of the disbursements on your behalf to ensure a smoother process.

 

Potential additional costs

• If there appears to be no Will and we need to establish this on your behalf a Will search can be undertake for £114.00 including VAT.
• Where the estate consists of any share holdings (stocks and bonds) there will be additional costs. 
• We will provide a more accurate quote once we have more information.
• If any additional Grants are required, they will cost £1.50 (1 per asset usually).
• Dealing with the sale or transfer of any property in the estate is not included.

 

How long will this take?

On average obtaining the Grant of Probate takes 8 to 12 weeks. Once this has been done, we will advise you so that you can collect in the assets.
